Sakura - Blossom into the Night at Gardens by the Bay

Updated:
March 31, 2024

One of Gardens by the Bay's most popular displays returns for its 9th edition

The Sakura display is back at Gardens by the Bay and it’s just as stunning this year!

Cherry Blossoms will be blooming in full glory in the Flower Dome against a Japanese inspired backdrop that captures the serene beauty of the sakura season in Japan.

This year, the Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion) in Kyoto takes centre stage with a magnificent replica of the iconic attraction.

You'll even be able to step inside and imagine what it's like to be inside the real thing.

Visitors to the Sakura floral display also stand a chance to win a pair of economy class tickets to anywhere in Japan, sponsored by All Nippon Airways (ANA).

Read on to find out how you can participate!

Over 140 cherry blossom trees

This year's display will feature more than 140 cherry blossom trees of over 40 varieties.

See fan favourites such as Prunus Accolade, known for its abundant clusters of pink blooms, Prunus Kiku Shidare with its distinctive weeping form, and Prunus Pendula Rubra which has an umbrella form and bears deep pink to red flowers.

There will be a new addition this year - the European plum blossom species Prunus domestica with its white to pale pink flowers.

As you wander the grounds, discover elements that evoke the spirit of Kyoto, from a traditional house reminiscent of Miyama Village to the tranquil sounds of a sozu, a bamboo water fountain commonly seen in Japanese gardens.

Sakura at Night Experience

For the first time, visitors can enjoy a day-to-night experience with the introduction of the Yozakura night sakura viewing experience.

As dusk falls, the cherry blossoms will be lit up, mirroring the beauty of night time sakura viewing in Japan.

Special projections further bring the night to life, transforming the ground into a koi-filled stream or a street with fallen sakura petals teased by a gentle breeze.

Paper cranes that adorn the entrance of the Flower Dome will also come to life with LED lights.
