Ranger Buddies, Mandai Wildlife Reserve’s programme for children to learn essential life skills and about conservation and sustainability, presents "Fight The Deadliest Monster With Pedro" at HarbourFront Centre.
Join Pedro the Sea Lion from 10-30 Oct 2022, at HarbourFront Centre to tackle the deadliest monster and learn how to reduce plastic pollution.
This family-friendly event will provide fun and educational opportunities for the whole family to learn about the journey of trash, and how you can help save the homes of aquatic animals that are being destroyed by plastic pollution.
The event is free and open to everyone so don't miss out on this opportunity to learn how to be a champion of our planet and to be an everyday hero!
Every year, over 10 million tons of litter ends up in the ocean, harming aquatic creatures and destroying their habitats.
You can help stop this by disposing of your trash properly and by Reducing, Reusing, and Recycling your waste.
Join Pedro in 5 exciting missions at HarbourFront Centre to learn how to reduce your plastic pollution and prevent trash from ending up in the ocean and harming aquatic wildlife.
Learn how plastics end up in the ocean and its effects on pollution of the waters and the harm it brings to our aquatic ecosystems.
Flip over some common household items to discover alternatives that we can use to reduce single-use plastics.
Hidden in the foam pit are some items that are reused to make new items. Find the ones that are used and stick them onto the wall.
In this interactive digital game, you'll help Pedro to collect recyclable items and avoid those that will contaminate the recycling bin.
Use the motion sensor to move the recycling bin to collect as many items as possible before time runs out!
After defeating the deadliest monster, you'll get to look through a pair of goggles to spot Pedro's friends that were hiding from the deadliest monster. Now that the monster is defeated, they no longer need to hide!
As a reward for completing the missions, children can redeem a reward pin at the customer service counter.
Aside from the missions, there will be many activities that families can look forward to at the event including workshops, marine wildlife talks, and a showcase of children’s art on marine conservation.
Children can take home a colouring sheet at the end of their mission to remind them to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
Spend $50 at HarbourFront Centre (T&C applies) and you can join in a workshop to make and bring home your very own clay animals like crab, turtle, and sea lion.
Friends of Marine Park, an NParks volunteer group will be giving talks about our native marine wildlife as well as marine wildlife related careers.
In partnership with enrichment centres in HarbourFront Centre, there will be a showcase of children’s artwork revolving around the theme of marine conservation.
