A leader in the kids watch phone market, imoo is a brand under BBK Electronics Group, which is also the parent company of mobile phone brands Oppo and Vivo.
While not as well known in Singapore yet, imoo is already a household brand in China where 50% of kids between 3-12 years old have a watch phone.
In fact, thanks to its success in China, imoo is the global leader in children's watch phones with over 20 million users and 26% share of the market.
imoo also has its own in-house dedicated R&D team, which enables it to innovate and push out new features continuously.

Because the watch has full calling capabilities, it needs a physical SIM card in order to make use of its full functionalities.
The Nano SIM card is installed into the back of the phone.
The Z6 comes in 2 designs - Flash green, and Magic purple (the model we tested), both stylish options which we're fans of.

At the heart of the Z6 is the imoo Companion APP (available for both iOS and Android devices) which allows parents to perform functions such as add phone contacts, locate your child, chat, and make calls.

The Z6's screen is a full touchscreen AMOLED display with a resolution of 320x360.
The touchscreen is quite responsive, so navigation of the watch's menu is smooth, and we experienced few lags during our test.

Battery life was excellent, thanks to its 680 mAh battery. We only had to charge it once every 2 days.
Of course, if you do a lot of video calls (which will probably not be the case for most people), you will have to charge the watch more often.

Using the imoo APP, parents can switch from one camera to the other during a video call.
We really love this function as it allows parents to view your kids as well as their surroundings during a video call.
Kids may not always be able to accurately describe where they are, so for parents to be able see their child's surroundings is definitely very helpful.
Video call quality was generally decent during our review.
In the few instances when the cellular connection was patchy and not reliable enough for video calls, we could switch to voice calling to continue the call.
The 8 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front cameras provide clear wide angle views while the 4G network provides reliable calling quality.

The sapphire crystal lens is resistant to wear and scratches, and the anti-finger print coating keeps the lens clean and smudge free as well.

There's no doubt that one of the biggest concerns for any parent is knowing where your child is at all times.
The Z6's Location Mode gives parents peace of mind by letting you know exactly where your child is at all times through the imoo app.
The location mode combines Google Maps with 7 types of location services (GPS+ Base Station + A-GPS+ WIFI+ GLONASS + Accelerometer+ Positioning Camera Assistance) to give you an accurate location of your child.

The watch is also able to tell you if your child is currently moving or at rest.
An interesting function is the Security Guard function, which uses Wi-Fi to help parents monitor if your kids have arrived at or departed from a set location.
You just need to set the Wi-Fi network of the location that they are arriving at and the time frame.
The app will then send you a notification if the watch is not connected to the Wi-Fi at the set times.
We all know water can be tough on electronics.
Therefore, a water resistant watch is essential for kids as they love to play in the water, whether it's at the pool, the beach or even in the bathtub.

Fortunately, the Z6 is water resistant up to 20 metres, making it perfect for most water activities such as swimming and water play.

You won't have to worry about it getting ruined if it gets wet.
It also surpasses the requirements of IPX8 Waterproof Rating (able to withstand continuous immersion in water) so you know it's built to last.
It's good to know that whether your child is caught in a rainstorm or taking a dip in the pool, you can rest assured that their Z6 will be just fine.

Kids watches need to be durable and to be able to handle more than a few knocks as well as survive repeated drops.

The watch's resin bracket has been reinforced with glass fiber for extra strength and its protective cover is also crack resistant.
In addition, the Z6's flip mechanism has been tested to survive 100,000 flips under laboratory test.

Cracked device screens and kids go almost hand in hand so you'll be glad to know that the Z6's screen is protected by scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass.
All in all, the Z6 is made for an active lifestyle and the watch casing looks like it can survive the daily beating that our kids will subject it to.
We took it to parks, playgrounds, pools, and beaches during our test and the Z6 kept ticking without a hitch.

For parents, the main functions of the watch phone will be for making calls and tracking the location of their kids.
Nevertheless, the Z6 is packed with some other neat functions as well.
Here are some of the ones we found most useful:
Class mode - For parents that are concerned about the watch being a distraction to kids, you can set certain timings where the watch's functions will be disabled.
During this time, the only function available to your child will be to call you.
Reject unknown calls - This function can be turned on to allow only calls from contacts in the address book to get through. This prevents unknown numbers from contacting your kids.
Call preview - When your child makes a video call, the APP will show you the video feed from the watch, giving you a preview of your child's emotional state. For busy parents, this is useful in determining whether a call is urgent or not and whether you should pick up.
Loss Reporting - If your child loses the watch, you can turn on the Loss Reporting function. This locks the phone up while showing its location on the APP.
The watch's message and phone ringtone volumes are also maximized when the phone is in the Loss Reporting state.
With video and voice call capabilities, the imoo Z6 is a great option for parents who want to stay connected with their children.
Its water resistance and sturdy construction makes it ideal for active kids.

Additionally, the peace of mind that comes with being able to track your child's location makes this device a valuable tool for parents.
Setting up the watch phone is relatively straightforward and the APP is also intuitive enough to be used by most users easily.
While the connection for video calls (particularly on cellular networks) could be better, voice calls were generally reliable.
More importantly, the Z6 fulfills its main functions well and the kids really enjoyed using it as well!

Although the watch is by no means cheap, the imoo Z6 is overall a good product for the price, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality well built kids watch phone.
