Family Fun March Holidays at the National Museum

Explore the museum this March holidays with new adventure routes, exciting themed on-site programmes daily, and even a mama shop for the young and young at heart to re-live the excitement of purchasing childhood snacks!

Forest Explorers Toddlers' Space

Begin your museum journey with an exploration of the William Farquhar Collection of Natural History Drawings through fruits/animals/colour-themed cards and fun spot-the-difference activities.

Date:  13-20 Mar

Ages: For families with children aged 4 and below

Location: Glass Atrium, Level 2

Duration: 45 minute slots

The space will be open during the following time slots:

  • Weekdays: 2-2:45pm, 3:45-4:30pm
  • Weekends: 11-11:45am, 2-2:45am, 3:45-4:30pm

Fun with Craft Station

Draw and color to your heart's content with the museum's craft templates.

Bring your own colouring materials or purchase a craft pack (sponsored by Staedtler) for $5.

Date: 13-20 Mar

Ages: 5 and above

Location: Glass Atrium, Level 2

Duration: 1 hour slots

The craft station will be open during the following time slots:

  • Weekdays: 1-2pm*, 2:30-3:30pm, 4-5pm
  • Weekends: 10-11am, 11:30am-12:30pm, 1-2pm, 2:30-3:30pm, 4-5pm

*On 15 and 16 Mar only 1-2pm.

Mama Shop

Share with the family what your favourite item on display is and end your fun family day out with some little treats available for purchase from the shop.

Opening Hours:

  • 15-19 Mar: 1pm-6pm
  • 13, 14, 20 Mar: 10am-6pm

Location: Gallery Theatre Foyer, Basement Level 1

Mama Shop Owner character tour

Follow this mama shop owner as he takes you back in time to discover the stories behind his toys.

Date: 

  • 13 Mar: 11:30am-12pm, 2:30-3pm
  • 20 Mar: 10:30am-11am

Location: Meeting point outside Growing Up Gallery, Level 2. Participants should obtain their gallery admission tickets at the Visitor Services counter on Level 1 before proceeding to the meeting point.

Tickets: $8 per adult-child pair (ages 5-10)

Artefact Highlights: A Handling Collection programme

Get a glimpse into what growing up in the 80s and 90s was like, through Singapore’s currency series and electronics.

In this experiential session, you will be introduced to some of the museum's handling objects.

Date:

  • 14 Mar: 3:30-4pm
  • 20 Mar: 11:30am-12pm

Ages: 7 and up

Location: The Salon, Level 1

Tickets: $5 per adult-child pair (refundable upon verifying on-site attendance)

Oodles of Noodles - Inter-generational food-making session

Try your hand at making your own noodles!

Learn about the different types of noodles that exist in Singapore.

Make and bring home a dried packet of your very own handmade noodles which you can cook in any style you like at home.

Date: 15 Mar, 10:30-11am, 2:30-3:30pm

Ages: 4 and up

Location: The Salon, Level 1

Tickets: $30 per adult-child pair, all ingredients and equipment provided.

Makers & Shakers - Inter-generational Music Workshop

A fun filled music making workshop where you will craft your own DIY music instrument and shake away to create ensemble music together.

Date: 17 Mar, 10:30-11:15am

Ages: 4 and up

Location: The Salon, Level 1

Tickets: $15 per adult-child pair

My Tailor Shop

Learn about the fashion influences and trends of the 1920s through and interactive tour of the Modern Colony Gallery and create your own unique paper outfit after.

Date: 17 Mar, 2:30-3:30pm

Ages: 4-8

Location: Modern Colony Gallery, Level 2

Tickets: $18 per adult-child pair

Tales of Old Singapore Craft Workshops

Bring your grandparents to the museum to discover toys they used to play with and local places of interest they frequented.

Create a classic board game or produce a woodblock print of these iconic buildings.

Each family will be given 1 set of craft materials, “My Family’s Stories” Kit and National Museum Singapore Easy Guides.

Date: 

  • 19 Mar, 10:30am-12pm, for ages 7-9
  • 19 Mar, 2:30pm-4pm, for ages 10-12

Location: The Salon, Level 1

Tickets: $30 per grandparent + parent + child trio or $22.50 per grandparent/parent + child

I Wonder Picture-book Workshop

Take part in a whimsical storytelling and make your own little picture-book of your pandemic experiences as a family.

Date: 20 Mar, 2:30-3:15pm, 4-4:45pm

Ages: 4-8 (simple creative writing and drawing involved)
