The Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) is conducted in January every year following the release of the GCE O-Level results.
Eligible students can apply for admissions into Junior Colleges (JC), Millenia Institute (MI), polytechnics, and Institute of Technical Education (ITE).
The rankings for each junior college is based on the cut-off point for each school.
For example, the 2024 range for Raffles Institution is 2-5. This means that the cut-off point for the school is 5.
The scores here are based on the 2024 JAE L1R5 aggregate for each school as released on MOE's website.

There are 2 JCs that offer the IB Diploma Programme:
There are 3 schools that do not participate in the JAE:
NUS High School Mathematics and Science - This school does not participate in DSA-JC or JAE for year 5 admission. Students are admitted through its school-based admission process for Year 1 and Year 3
School of the Arts, Singapore - This school only accepts students through Direct School Admission for junior colleges (DSA-JC)
Singapore Sports School - This school only accepts students through Direct School Admission for junior colleges (DSA-JC)
JCs and MI prepare students either for the GCE A-Level certificate or the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB).
Students must meet the specific subject requirements and L1R5 or L1R4 scores in order to be admitted into the 2-year A-Level or IB Diploma course in JCs, or the 3-year A-Level course in MI.
Students must meet both of these criteria for admission to JCs:
L1R5 gross aggregrate score = First Language (L1) + Relevant Subject 1 (R1) + R2 + R3 + R4 + R5
L1: English or Higher Mother Tongue Language
R1: Any 1 best-scoring subject from Humanities
R2: Any 1 best-scoring subject from Mathematics or Science
R3: Any 1 best-scoring subject from Humanities, Mathematics or Science
R4, R5: Any 2 best-scoring subjects except Religous Knowledge
The list of GCE O-Level subjects and categories are available here
These subjects cannot be used:
1. The score for Higher Mother Language and Mother Tongue Language cannot be used in the same computation. For example, if you use Higher Chinese as the first language (L1), you cannot use Chinese for R1 to R5.
2. "Merit" and "Pass" grade for the Mother Tongue "B" Syllabus
Higher Mother Tongue Language: Higher Chinese, Higher Malay and Higher Tamil
Mother Tongue Language: Chinese, Malay and Tamil
Mother Tongue ‘B’ Syllabus: Chinese ‘B’, Malay ‘B’ and Tamil ‘B’
Bonus points are deducted from your gross aggregate score to get the net aggregate score for posting to Junior Colleges
You can earn up to 4 bonus points through a combination of any of these categories:
You can earn an additional 2 bonus points if you're chosen for the Chinese, Malay, or Tamil Language Elective programme.
Note that admission into these programmes requires you to take the corresponding subject and take its GCE A-Level exam.
You must stay enrolled in the programme while studying in JC (regardless of whether the bonus points were taken into consideration for posting). If not, you could face potential expulsion from the school.
If you have taken the subject but did not obtain the minimum grade set out above, you are eligible for conditional admission if you meet one of these criteria:
If you did not obtain the minimum required grade for an O-Level subject, you will need to retake the subject and obtain the required grade by the end of Year 1 in JC.
If you fail to do so, you will be transferred to Year 2 of a course in Millenia Institute (MI).
However, if you still haven't obtained the required grade by Year 2 of MI, you will have to leave the MI course.
If you received an "Absent" grade for the required O-Level subject, you are not eligible for conditional admission to a JC course.
