PropNex Family Zone Playground: A new outdoor playground at Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay just got even more exciting for families with the launch of the PropNex Family Zone, featuring Singapore's first family-themed destination playground!

This new area, officially opened on 5 April 2025, transforms a beautiful section of Gardens by the Bay into a dedicated space where families can play, learn, and create memories together.

The unique thing about this playground is that it's not just about daytime fun - when the sun goes down, the playground transforms with synchronised light displays and glowing sandpit projections, making it the first of its kind to offer night time play.

And it's all free!

The PropNex Family Zone was made possible through collaboration among the Community Chest of Singapore, Families for Life, Gardens by the Bay, Ministry of Social and Family Development, and PropNex.

A Playground Packed with Exciting Play Features

Inspired by Gardens by the Bay's iconic Supertrees, and starring the adorable Families for Life mascot Becky Bunny, the 2,000 sqm playground is packed with play features including 9m climbing towers, a lightning-fast slide, flying fox, bouncy bridges, and a spacious sand pit.

Meet Becky Bunny and Friends

The delightful Becky Bunny, Families for Life's beloved mascot, features as a larger-than-life play structure complete with slides and climbing elements. Children will love exploring this centrepiece attraction while developing their motor skills and sense of adventure.

Throughout the playground, Becky's family members appear as charming sculptures - meaningful reminders of family bonds that surround children as they play.

Adding a delicious local touch, custom play elements shaped like traditional treats such as kueh lapis and ang ku kueh celebrate Singapore's cultural heritage while providing unique climbing and exploration opportunities.

Educational Play That Teach Family Values

Core family values come to life in this playground.

Specially designed equipment teach children essential values like love, care, commitment, and respect through interactive play experiences.

By engaging with these thoughtfully crafted elements, little ones absorb important life lessons while having the time of their lives.

Comfort for Everyone

More than 20% of the playground features shaded areas, creating comfortable spaces for both play and rest.

These shaded sections keep equipment cool to the touch even on the hottest days, ensuring safe and comfortable play year-round.

Parents and caregivers will appreciate these relaxing observation areas where they can watch their children while enjoying the community atmosphere.

A Playground for All

The playground was designed very much with inclusivity in mind.

Its open design with minimal barriers between different zones encourages children of all ages and abilities to interact freely.

The thoughtful layout includes:

• Landmark towers and bridges offering graduated challenges while maintaining visual connectivity for children with hearing impairments
• Swings with accessible entry heights for children with physical disabilities
• Wide-platform seesaws that accommodate various positions - lying, sitting, or standing - for children with different mobility needs
• Quiet retreat areas for children who might feel overwhelmed by sensory stimulation
• High-energy zones for children seeking more vigorous physical engagement

The playground's genius lies in how naturally these inclusive elements blend into the overall design, ensuring all children feel welcome without highlighting differences.

Beyond the Playground at the PropNex Family Zone

The PropNex Family Zone offers more than just the ourdoor playground.

The expanded 440-square-meter Community Garden, managed entirely by volunteers with guidance from Gardens by the Bay horticulturists, now features accessible raised planter beds and wide paths that allow wheelchair users to participate in gardening activities.

A sheltered pavilion provides space for small-group programs.

Nearby, the upgraded 3,500-square-meter Event Lawn has been redeveloped with a high-standard drainage system to keep it usable even after heavy rain.

By 2026, a new Community Stage will join these facilities, creating space for family-friendly performances and community events.

These new facilities complement existing elements of the Family Zone like the Outdoor Fitness Gym, Musical Playground, Waterfront Plaza, and the Starbucks Community Store.
